I’m a big fan of not reinventing the wheel. I also believe that using a multitude of tools and resources is valuable for all learners. As a consequence, I use a lot of resources developed by other people when I teach. I thought I would share some of those here.
Crash Course – created by the vlog brothers John and Hank Green, Crash Course has both a science/social science and a humanities stream. I’ve also noticed that they have started expanding the subject areas, hosts, and age groups that they are targeting.
Minute Physics – these videos are, you might have guessed, short. To fit within their timeframe these videos necessarily break complex topics down into smaller, manageable chunks. They also use humour to engage learners in physics.
I’ve also used a number of songs in class to help students remember various concepts. These are two of my favourites:
